Lampworking (aka lampworking, torchworking) glass involves using an open flame to melt glass until it is soft enough to be shaped and embellished using various tools and techniques. Beads created in this way have been dated to the 5th century BC and the practice gained popularity during the 14th century in Murano, Italy. In our studio we still use Italian soda-lime glass to make unique and artful beads.
